Why Do Women Fake Orgasms?

First let’s look at the two reasons for faking it that are super easy to understand.

“Getting it over with” is a no-brainer. As fun as sex is - in fact the more fun it is - it makes you tired. Done.

Protecting the man’s ego is understandable too

Erin Cooper, a doctoral student at Temple University conducted research on 1500 women faking orgasm,  said that of the conscious reasons heterosexual women fake it the most common is “altruistic deceit” - in other words, avoiding hurting the guy’s feelings.

A smaller study “looked at fear of intimacy as a predictor of motivation for faking orgasm. So women who had difficulty in a past relationship are more likely to fake in order to avoid feeling insecure about themselves or to end the sexual encounter.”

On the statistic that only 8% of women have orgasms through penile-vagina intercourse (without any helping hands), “Very few women can climax through intercourse alone, but in Hollywood, that 8 percent (of women) is portrayed as 100 percent.”

I must be a freak.

I was that same kind of "freak" for years with my ex, who was wiry slim. With my fiance now, who is decidedly NOT slim or wiry, it doesn't work that way for me. However, between the two, I'm much happier with the sex life with the latter. Orgasms ain't the be-all, end-all. And, no, I don't fake 'em, ever.

It's not an achievement! LOL. It's natural. People - men and women - need to surrender to the moment, that's all. It takes two....Maybe I should open a therapy business.

Well, even though statistics don't lie :/ , we must be doing a few things right. A lot's in the prep, and then there's the follow up, just in case. Practice, practice practice... :)

I'm curious about this. Although statistics say that 92% of females have admitted they have faked organisms, I have yet to find one man who believes he's not always with the 8%; why is that guys?....I know, I know....you know the difference, right? :)

I'm sure alot of us just don't care. They get their's, they're happy.

I wouldn't say "I don't care," but I feel, just as it's up to me to voice my feelings when something isn't working for me, that she should speak up. But then, I realized a long time ago that it doesn't always have to end with a "pop."

One of the most satisfying times for me ended in both of us just bursting out laughing at something that was said. We were so happy and relaxed that we just kissed each other goodnight and went to sleep.

For us, it's more about the adventure than the goal. And, as stated above, prep time and practice work wonders. (Plus, they're extremely fun, so... practice, practice, practice.) :D

Just so. Goal-oriented doesn't work the best for us. It's the journey that counts, not the destination. ;-)

Unless you're almost there and one of the kids knocks on the door. :-P

Orgasms are great of course!! My intake is the younger woman has lots of horomones and therefore penis-vagina orgasm is easier for a woman of child bearing age. Being an older woman tired , plus less estrogen and androgen makes orgasm more difficult. I very rarely fake orgasm because my husband would know.. ha ha Just basic stimulation and patience on your partners part, will do wonders for a woman. Then you both feel intimacy and appreaciation for each other.

Dawn,

I think you're correct, especially with the hormones, etc.

You folks are lucky, how does a guy fake an orgasm (he can't) without his partner thinking "hmmmmmm..."?
