Jordan Cardella wanted to win back his girlfriend. So, to gain her sympathy, he hatched a plan to have a friend shoot him in the back.
Cardella would have shot himself, but being a convicted felon, he didn't want to touch a gun,

married for 17, divorced for 4, neither the ex and I want each other back. Wouldn't shoot my self if I did want her back. She not worth a bullet.

Although, shooting this guy should be rewarded, not punished - he should've told him "sure, i'll just shoot you in the back", but aimed for his head, instead.

If one of my ex-boyfriend's did something like that, not only would I not get back together with him, I would be grateful that I dumped his stupid a$$ in the first place - can you imagine trying to have a meaningful conversation with this guy?
