What does a fast food cheeseburger look like when it's sat on the shelf for a whole year? Pretty much the same as it did on Day One. Melanie Hesketh, a California nutritionist, bought a McDonald's cheeseburger a year ago as an experiment. And then she let it sit around for a whole year, unwrapped and unrefrigerated, just to see what would happen. And ... nothing happened.

No mold, no maggots, it even kind of smells the same. Melanie's take on the experiment is, "Obviously it makes me wonder why we choose to eat food like this wheneven bacteria won't eat it.

Let's all try to remember that the widow of the founder of McDonalds left hundreds of millions to charity and insisted that McDonald's prices be kept at a minimum to feed the hungry and homeless when she died.

I did not know that. Thank you for pointing that out.

It's too bad she cared more about the price than the nutritional value.

If you really want to understand the impact of fast food on the country, I'd suggest you read

Well, I guess for people that eat this they'll be able to avoid embalming fluid when they die.

Me, I haven't eaten a McDonalds hamburger in at least 10 years.

I know its a cheeseburger but something smells fishy... where is the dust? After a year there would be plenty. I'm throwing the fake flag on this one.

me as well. The bun would have at least molded. With all the condiments inside it would have gotten soggy. If it was just hamburg and bun, bun would have molded fast. Unless it was in an Egyptian tomb.

Star,

something smells fishy... where is the dust

You could have it covered with a paper towel to keep the dust off, without sealing it in waxed paper or a plastic bag

Even if the dust were kept off, the cheese would have dried up and cracked. I'm going to have to agree that this is BS.

hello all how are you? short and sweet DAMN most relivant IMO is digestion, if anyone finds the 411 drop the knowledge God Bless especially if you eat at McDonalds. more test should be done on all fast food burger joints w/without cheese. i've never had anything in my fridge that didn't go bad eventually.

While it's a funny/disturbing article, this just doesn't sound possible, unless maybe she lives at the South Pole and left it outside all year!

Of course, it's easy enough to test. (and don't think that I'm not intrigued enough to do so!)

This is a a ANOTHER red flag Americans! Please see the truth of how Food IS Big Business. All about the money..preserve, Promate Produce~~ Buy local, Organic, Produce, Eggs, and Meats when available and support small farms !! The cost you will pay for Health Care Later in life will far outpace the few extra dollars it costs to buy REAL Food, not manufactured , hormone impregnated, Irradiated. Dyed, Microwaved, Nucleated, chemically injected, FAKE Garbage not fit to throw in the compost bin !!! Please WAKE up and Smell the Beauty of real Nutrition !!
