The murder of Kasandra Perkins by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, whocommitted suicide a short time later, has reinvigorated the ongoing debate over gun control in America. It has also brought it into the wide world of sports in ways that have either been inappropriate or long overdue, depending on who you ask. On Thursday, the same day as a memorial service was held for Perkins in Texas, he spoke up.
"The one thing missing in that equation is that woman owning a gun so she could have saved her life from that murderer," NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre told David Leon Moore of USA TODAY.
