A rescue worker dove into a near-frozen lake to save an 11-year-old dog and the daring man who had fallen through the ice attempting to rescue him.
Jim Swayze of Brownstown Township, Michigan was walking his Walker Coonhound, Bart, near Lake Eerie Thursday afternoon when Bart wandered off and fell through a thin sheet of ice covering the water.
'I tried to walk around to him and it was just too deep, and I couldn't get to him,
Bart kept his front two paws on the ice while his body was submerged in the freezing water.
Standing in waist-deep ice cold water, Swayze called 911, and then his cousin, Lance Eicher.
Eicher arrived first on the scene and stepped onto the ice wearing waders - a water-proof rubber suit with suspenders.
