Grandmother of 13 mauled to death by pet pit bull while babysitting three of her young grandkids who witnessed bloody attack
A 65-year-old South Carolina woman was mauled to death by the family pit bull in a gruesome attack that unfolded as she babysat her three young grandchildren Tuesday.
Officials were called to a home in Hodges, where Betty Ann Chapman Todd was looking after her grandkids, after receiving reports of an animal bite.
When they arrived at the scene on East Grumling Road, they were faced with a black-and-white pit bull with blood on its mouth, chest and paws. The animal was acting aggressively and blocked the officers' entry into the house.
David Todd said the horrific attack came as a shock because the pit ball has never shown any signs of aggression in the past.

'It slept in the bed with them,' the brother-in-law said, referring to the children. 'They've had the dog four years, and it never ever showed anything like this.'
The victim’s son told officials that his mother stayed at his house before and got along with
