Police have discovered a cache of potential explosives, two cannons, a silencer and booby traps after searching the home of a neighborhood 'eccentric' in Southern California. 

Horrified federal agents also found William Lawrence Hunzicker's emaciated 82-year-old mother, living amid squalor in the home in Riverside, California, on Wednesday. 

Hunzicker, 46, was arrested on charges of elder abuse, as well as possession of a silencer. However, investigators say the explosives are potentially very dangerous and could result in more charges.

He’s very, you know, "I’m gonna have my guns and the government can’t take them." But, I mean, we have busybodies here, and he just kind of keeps to himself.'

Officers searched his house when a neighbor called police on Wednesday morning when she saw him shooting a rifle in his front yard.
