A Chicago elementary school teacher was ordered held on $200,000 bail Saturday after he admitted to police that he beat his rescue dog to death after the animal had eaten ‘every piece of paper in the house.’
Derek Fierro, 25, was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after calling police to his home at 3 a.m. and directing them to his dead dog, Queso, which he had placed in the trunk of his car.
The Eugene Field Elementary School teacher was crying when the police arrived and told them that he was sorry for killing his 14-month-old yellow Labrador chow mix.
Chicago Police said that they had taken a 911 call in the early hours of the morning from a man who told them he had been angry when he had killed his dog because it 'ate every piece of paper' in the house before soiling itself.
The fourth grade teacher allegedly admitted to police that because the dog was not cooperating by getting into the bathtub, he proceeded to punch it to death.
